Reports indicate that the star of the popular movie series is set to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Captain America.
Close to a New Deal
The actor, who turns 40 later this year is said to be nearing a deal to reprise the roles in previous Captain America movies; as Steve Rogers and his alter-ego Captain America. At least one more Marvel project is in the pipeline, with a second movie still a distinct possibility at this stage.
According to sources, the new movie is unlikely to follow the same Captain America storyline, so it’s not going to be a new installment of the series. Evans’ deal will be similar to the one presented to Robert Downey Jr. after Iron Man 3 where he went on to star in other Marvel films.
It’s unclear how Evans’ return will pan out, but Marvel usually finds a way to insert characters into movies even when the character’s own franchises have come to an end.
Enormous Expectation
It had appeared to us like Evan’s run as Captain America had come to an end after portraying the character for 11 years in Avengers: Endgame. He appeared to confirm as much when he revealed his excitement to have “freedom” to pursue other parts.
He stated: “I absolutely loved my time with Marvel; I already miss it, but there’s no denying that it is very exciting to just have complete freedom to pursue whatever my creative appetite wants.
In addition, he went on record to admit that he felt an ‘enormous expectation’ placed on his shoulders trying to interpret the role to perfection.
‘There was this enormous expectation that these people already had in their minds, this idea of who this character was, and you have to respect that.
“Audiences are part of what will make [these films] work, and I owe that group my understanding of what they see.”There was this enormous expectation that these people already had in their minds, this idea of who this character was, and you have to respect that.
