If they power workers hadn’t had to switch off the electricity because of the truck crash, then the family wouldn’t have lit candles. And if the closet door hadn’t jammed against the door of Rainer Elklund’s bedroom when the smoke alarms started to sound, then he wouldn’t have died struggling to get out of his room, as the driver whose truck crash set off this sequence of events tried desperately to save him.
